Bowles
and Meyer Standard Station
Opened in April 1956 along
Route 66, Richard Meyer and Robert "Doc" Bowles
operated the original station for 19 years.
During this time they employed 50 high school
students including Richard's sons Steve and Dick
Meyer who are the current owners and Wally Heinz
who is still employed today but on a part time
basis.
With the arrival of Interstate
55, access to the original station was limited
so in 1976 Richard constructed the current
station along the new off ramp of Interstate
55 and the Route 66 intersection.
Richard continued to operate the
station until he retired in 1990 at which time
his son's Steve and Dick purchased the business
and added the convenience store and auto repair
center.
"The Meyer Boys"
as they are known continue their fathers legacy,
loyalty to family, friends and the community and
providing exceptional customer service at a fair
price. There are no strangers at Meyer bp only
new friends!
